Offer Description
UNINOVA – Instituto de Desenvolvimento de Novas Tecnologias, by decision of the Executive Committee, opens an international call to hire a Researcher, in the form of an Unfixed-Term Contract and in exclusivity under the Research Project “INFRACHIP: European Research Infrastructure on Semiconductor Chips” (INFRACHIP, GA 101131822) funded by the Horizon Europe Programme from the European Commission and under the scientific coordination of Professor Rodrigo Martins.
Admission Requirements/Profile of the Candidate:
Applicants may be any Portuguese national, foreign or stateless, holders of a PhD degree in Materials Engineering, Nanotechnologies and Nanosciences, Physics, Chemistry or similar areas, duly registered and/or recognized in Portugal and that holds the following requirements:
- Experience in printing technologies for thin film coatings of electronic and/or chromogenic materials;
- Experience in microstructuring of soft material surfaces by laser and/or plasma processes;
- Experience in scientific education activities for multiple audiences;
- Training in project management;
- Demonstrated capabilities to work in interdisciplinary research teams;
- Fluency in English (writing, understanding and speaking).
Applicable legislation:
- Portuguese Labor Code, approved by Law nº 7/2009, of February 12th, in its current version.
- Administrative Procedure Code, as republished in Decree-Law nº 4/2015, from 7th January in its current version (CPA).
Work Plan Activities:
The work falls within the scope of the research and management activities of UNINOVA including:
- Support evaluation of external user project proposals submitted to be implemented in INFRACHIP consortium;
- Support external users in building project proposals to be implemented at UNINOVA and in implementing such proposals at UNINOVA laboratories;
- Enhance/enlarge the services offer of UNINOVA at INFRACHIP, by advancing research in strategic areas related to flexible electronics, namely printing technologies and material surface modifications;
- Promote scientific training activities within INFRACHIP (e.g., research accelerator programme, participation in science exhibitions…)
- Support the Communication office in the dissemination of INFRACHIP services;
- Elaboration of deliverables and project reports related to the topics above.
Start Date and Workplace:
The employment contract will start in July 2026 and will last only for the period of execution necessary for the work plan described above, which is estimated to have a duration of 18 months.
The work will be developed at UNINOVA, at other facilities located at FCT/NOVA Campus and/or other necessary locations to its execution.

Additional Information
Monthly Remuneration:
Remuneration will be in accordance with salary level 33 of the Single Remuneration Table, 2 408,11 €, approved by Ordinance No. 1553-C / 2008, of December 31 and updated by Decree-Law No. 10-B / 2020, of March 23 and by the Decree-Law No. 109-A/2021, of December 7th.
Evaluation Criteria:
The selection methods to be used are as follows:
- Analysis of the Curriculum Vitae [85%];
- Analysis of the Motivation Letter [15%].
- If the selection committee deems it necessary, an interview will be conducted only with the selected candidates, in which case the review of the Curriculum Vitae will account for 75%, the review of the cover letter for 10%, and the interview for 15%.
The jury shall deliberate by means of a roll-call vote based on the selection criteria. In the event of a tie, the decision will be the responsibility of the chairman of the jury.
After evaluation of all admitted applications, the jury will write a meeting minute with all process of recruitment, evaluation and selection including an ordered short list of approved candidates and their respective classification and final decision of the jury.
The final decision of the jury shall be validated by the Head of the Institution, who is also in charge of deciding about the hiring.

Results:
Both admitted and excluded candidates list and final classification list shall be posted at UNINOVA building, located at Campus da Caparica, Quinta da Torre, 2829-516 Caparica, it will be published on the UNINOVA website (https://www.uninova.pt/) and all candidates will be notified by email.
Preliminary Hearing and Final Decision Deadline:
After communicating the provisional list of the results of the evaluation, the candidates have a period of 10 working days to express their opinion during a prior hearing of interested parties, pursuant to articles 121 et seq. of the Code of Administrative Procedure.
The final decision will be rendered after the analysis of the statements presented during a prior hearing of interested parties. A complaint may be filed against the final decision within 15 working days, or, alternatively, an appeal may be filed within 30 working days, both counting from the respective notification.
