Scientific Advisor: Maria de Fátima Grilo da Costa Montemor (ist23859)
Co-advisor(s): Marta Alexandra Marques Alves (ist145966), departamento de engenharia quimica, instituto superior
técnico.
Organic Unit: Scientific Area of Process and Project Engineering
Scholarship Theme: This fellowship falls within the field of sustainable energy transition, with a focus on the circular
economy applied to energy systems. The fellow will investigate innovative strategies to optimise resource use and
promote circularity in energy technologies and infrastructure, thereby reducing environmental impact and improving
systems efficiency. The fellow will support the implementation of WP3. The work will involve developing materials and
different studies, and innovative methodologies to integrate sustainability, climate protection, and energy. This
experience will enable the fellow to explore multidisciplinary solutions for the energy transition, aligning scientific
research with training and capacity building oriented to circular economy challenges in the energy sector.
Duration: 12 months
Maximum Duration Including Renewals: 12 months
Objectives
• Production of scientific articles and pedagogical contents, or reports on the circular economy and materials applied to
the energy transition.
• Development of methodologies and tools to assess circularity and materials amd resource efficiency in energy systems.
• Preparation of scientific studies that can be integrated into the results of the project.
Work Plan
Research and development of innovative scientific - pedagogical materials in the field of the circular economy and novel
materials for the energy transition, integrating digital and interactive methodologies that enhance the transferability
and applicability of the results. Close collaboration with the project team and international partners to ensure quality,
consistency, and impact

Contest Evaluation Method(s)
Curricular evaluation weighted to 100% on a scale of 100 points with a minimum of 50 points needed for admission.
The minimum final grade needed for admission is 50 points.
